1. How do I become a member of the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary?

Send us an email at info@marinerescue.ca and we will take care of the basic paperwork. You can join us for our monthly meeting that is held once a month, on second Wednesday at 7pm. Meetings are held in the hut behind the Performing Arts Centre.

2. How much time would be required of me?

As much as you can contribute. If you can sign up for duty crew, great, and if not, you can just be on call. We send out emails when there are scheduled excercises. If you want to be full crew, you need 20 hours of sea time per year. That is about 8 excercises per year.

3. Do I have to have a boat to join?

No. If you do have a boat that you would like to use for CCGA activities, it must me approved by the society president.

4. Can I be involved without having to be on call?

Yes, see question 2.

5. How old do I have to be to join?

  • Junior Membership : 13-18 years
  • General Membership: over 19 years

6. I don't have a car, but I would like to be on call...is that possible?

Yes, someone can always pick you up.

7. Can I contribute to the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary-Pacific?

Yes. Please contact us. Financial and in-kind donations are both useful to our volunteer work. Please note: all contributions to the Marine Rescue over $20 receive a tax deductible receipt.

8. I don't have any rain gear, or equipment, but I would like to help.

No problem. We have loaner gear. If you decide to stay for a while with CCGA, we will get you your own gear that you can use.
